NOODLES
Who doesn't love a good bowl of noodles? It's a world-wide craze, as you see variations of these wonderful creations in many nations across the globe. I love how straight and neat they come in the box, all lined up next to each other and in perfect order...until they are thrown into the violent chaos of the boiling water, and then they scramble and tangle into mess of starch. But depending upon what delectable sauce you top them with, the end result is yummy.
Sometimes I feel like this is a picture of my mind. On a good day, I wake up with my thoughts and emotions all lined up and in order. And then I open my eyes. The issues and busy-ness of the day ahead of me pour in and the noodles begin to get all tangled up. It's in this chaos that fear and worry weave themselves into the mix and God's peace seems far from me.
Then the noun becomes a verb as the negative noodling sets in. Thoughts of not being equipped. Not good enough. Of what people think. Doubt that my prayer will be answered. That I'll never see the breakthrough. And on and on.....until I rise up and say NOT TODAY.
The Fearless 365 Week Sixteen Challenge: BE FEARLESS TO SAY "NOT TODAY!" Greater is the power of Christ that lives on the inside of me than any fear or circumstance I might face in this world. That is a promise from God. For me AND for YOU. We need to use this verse as the stick to draw a line in the sand, along with the words "NOT TODAY"
This song below will strengthen and encourage your heart to have the courage to stand your ground. Take the time to read and meditate on these powerful lyrics. (The video is embedded below.) This song is a much better message to be noodling around in your head than the lies of fear.
NOT TODAY
Words and Music By Joel Housten and Matt Crocker
VERSE 1
Trouble won’t throw me
Won’t break me
Won’t scare me
No more
Fear must have thought I was faithless
When it came for my heart
PRE-CHORUS 1
‘Cause I got a song that will never die
I know Your love is the reason why
CHORUS 1
I’ll sing the night into the morning
I’ll sing the fear into Your praise
I’ll sing my soul into Your presence
Whenever I say Your Name
Let the devil know not today
VERSE 2
Tell me did the enemy panic
As You took up that cross
Tell me did the darkness cry mercy
As You rolled back that rock
PRE-CHORUS 2
‘Cause I know Your life is the life in mine
I know Your love is the reason why
CHORUS 2
I’ll sing the night into the morning
I’ll sing the fear into Your praise
I’ll sing my soul into Your presence
Whenever I say Your Name
Let the devil know not today
Whenever I say Your Name Jesus
Let the devil know not today
Not now not ever again
BRIDGE
Your love stood down death
Crushed the devil’s head
Fear is just a liar
Running out of breath
The fight beneath Your feet
I’m standing on Jesus’ Name
So let the devil know not today
Let the devil know not today No no
Not now not ever again Jesus
Let the devil know not today
Let this be your war cry today...tomorrow...and every day.
Fear is just a liar running out of breath.
If you haven't read last week's blog, Going Deep, take some time to do so HERE. So many of the fears we wrestle with have roots that run deep. It's going to take a deep relationship with God to demand those roots shrivel up.
I'd love to add your specific requests to my daily prayers. Please shoot an email so we can be in contact with each other :) You can do that HERE
